JOSEPH
DiAMICIS Joseph J. "Little Joe" DiAmicis Age 78
died June 25, 2003 at Manor Care in Wilmington, DE. Mr. DiAmicis was reared and educated in Marcus Hook,
PA and lived both in Chester and Ridley Park, PA for several years before
moving to Wilmington in 1967. Mr. DiAmicis was active in football and
baseball, playing in the semiprofessional leagues in Marcus Hook. He worked
for the BP Oil Co. in Trainer, PA for more than 40 years before retirement.
He was a member of the Retired Oil Workers, the Del-Vets, and he was a
founding member of the Church of the Holy Child in Wilmington, DE. He served
in the United States Navy during WWII in the South Pacific , where he
received a Purple Heart, enlisting just days after the attack on Pearl
Harbor. Joe was the son of the late Joseph and Rose
DeFrancisco DiAmicis; husband of the late Kathleen McLaughlin DiAmicis, who
died in 1997; and brother of the late Mary DiSimone and Edith Jones.
Survivors include 4 sons, Joseph DiAmicis, Henry DiAmicis, James DiAmicis and
Stephen DiAmicis, all of Wilmington; and 3 daughters, Kathleen Nespoli of
Claymont and Elizabeth Conte and Maureen Castellani, both of Wilmington.
Other survivors include 1 brother, John DiAmicis of Wallingford, PA; 1
sister, Algine DeVico of Eddystone, PA; 22 grandchildren; and 5 great
grandchildren. Internment at Lawn Croft Cemetery in Linwood, PA. |
