GILBERT ‘GUS’ PENNINGTON
Gilbert "Gus"
Pennington, age 83, of Bradenton FL, formerly of Wilmington, DE, died Dec.
25, 2003.
Gus served in the Navy during WWII and was Past Commander
of The Delaware Veterans of WWII. He was also a 32nd degree Mason and a
member of the Temple Masonic Lodge No. 11. He retired from The DuPont Co.
after 32 years of service.
He was the devoted father of, son, Bruce Pennington and his wife, Laurie of
Wilmington; daughters, Sandra P. Hagenbuch and her husband, Karl B., of
Bradenton, FL and Lynn Brock and her husband, Michael D. of Newark. Also
surviving him are 6 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren; and many
nephews, nieces and friends. Gus was predeceased by his wife of 46 years,
Ruth (Brandenberger) in 1992.
A memorial service was held on Jan. 24, 2004 at 11 am at Chester Bethel
United Methodist Church 2619 Foulk Road, Wilmington, where friends may call
after 10 am.
Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in Mr. Pennington's
name be made to Talleyville Fire Company, 3919 Concord Pike, Talleyville, DE
19803; and Delaware Veterans of WWII, Inc., 2535 Veterans Drive, Wilmington,
DE 19810.
