A Veteran - whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve--is someone who, at one point in his or her life, wrote a blank check made payable to "The United States of America” for an amount of "up to and including their life” That is Honor, and it seems there are far too many people in this country...
who no longer understand that simple fact.

"It is the soldier, not the reporter who has given us the freedom of the press. It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us the freedom of speech. It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who gives us the freedom to demonstrate. It is the soldier who salutes the flag, who serves beneath the flag, and whose coffin is draped by the flag, who allows the protester to burn the flag.”

Delaware Operation Support Our Troops
Again this year many of us are involved in Operation Support Our Troops. Our brave service people serving in Iraq and Afghanistan need our support. We already have 1000 names and if the past is any indicator we will get more as it gets closer to our mailing deadline of November 30th. We anticipate over 4000 stockings will be sent this year. You may be wondering how you can help. It is really very simple. Located at the Post is a box and flyers.
You need not fill a 2 gallon bag if you don't have one just bring in your donations or you can drop them off at the Headquarters in Branmar Plaza. We are looking for the following items:
It you don't want to shop a donation would be greatly appreciated. Our shipping costs are up 39% over last year. A check can be made to Operation Support Our Troops and can be brought to our headquarters or put in the box at the post. We would like to thank the Del Vets again for their support in the past and also say a great big thanks in advance. Anyone with any questions can call or at 475-1991 or email me at Delawarerealtor@aol.com.

Stockings for Soldiers -Delaware
Welcome . to the official website for our 2010 Stockings For Soldiers Community Project!
This year marks the 7th consecutive year of our community effort to send personalized Holiday greetings to our brave young men and women in uniform serving their country half-way around the world.
Last year over 500 great volunteers helped us to mail out 1,200 boxes packed with 6,600 homemade, personalized Christmas Stockings that were filled with over 36,000 pounds of Christmas Goodies. We also made and shipped 800 polar fleece blankets and 500 knitted hats for our troops. More!

Dear Stockings For Soldiers Friends, HELLO...
We really need EXTRA assistance to complete this Project.
We have accepted over 10,000 troops (about 10% of troops in Afghanistan) to support this year and right now, we do not have enough items to fill their stockings.
Could I please ask everyone to help us by bringing over donations before Tues, Nov. 29th or ASAP and/or donating the funds that will allow us to purchase these items and ship them off on December 2nd?
We've already filled 3,000 stockings, with only 7,000 more to go. :-)
THANK YOU fabulous volunteers.
We still need every item on our List of Suggested Donations, especially
Slim Jims
Food - (small sizes of lasagna, beefaroni, tuna)
Cans of Fruit
Toothbrushes,Razors,
Granola
Bars,
Peanut Butter Crackers
Won't you all make one more trip to the store for us?? Our troops would be so grateful for a little gift and remembrance during the Christmas holidays.
Thanks, everyone, for all that you have donated so far. We need just a "little" more.
For our local friends, please go to our website to see when Rick Jensen from WDEL Radio will broadcast live from the Stocking Store. Be sure to stop by that day to make a donation for our troops and meet Rick. You can find WDEL at 1150 AM on the dial. Our distant friends can listen to WDEL on the Internet at www.WDEL.com
Let us also all remember our troops, serving their Country on the front lines while we are enjoying our Thanksgiving Day. They would want us to be home and safe. Let us all send them our prayers of gratitude.
